An academically and commercially astute accountant and tax consultant with a passion for assisting entrepreneurs grow their businesses from startup to successful enterprises, and generally ease their administrative burdens so they can focus on the bigger dream.
With in-dept knowledge of the principles of accounting and tax, along with practical business experience on the obstacles associated with startup business success, I have proved an ability to guide entrepreneurs in implementing cloud-based accounting systems. Take care of the mundane administrative tasks that is left behind by startup entrepreneurs as they are only focused on their big idea and tend to forget that producing sound financial data, is of utmost importance when building a business which will in time be in need of financial assistance.
I matriculated in 1995, after which I enrolled for my BCom Accounting degree with UNISA. My working career started in 1996 as a bookkeeper in the manufacturing industry where I gained valuable experience in the variety of transactions associated with the manufacturing industry. The in-dept operational experience in Inventory, Customers and Suppliers gives me an industry edge, as most accountants miss out on that valuable practical experience when going into articles directly after their studies. My operational experience in, bills of materials, kit issues and the more intricate detail involved in the manufacturing accounting environment, flamed my passion for manufacturing accounting and systems implementation. In 1999 I was recruited by an auditing firm, Eksteen, Louw and Badenhorst Incorporated, to start my CA(SA) articles, which I completed in 2002.
My training during my articles was extensively varied, as I was introduced to all industries and were mentored on all aspects of the financial statements, auditing, bookkeeping, payroll and tax compliance. In 2002 I was promoted to Audit Manager with a team of 25 article clerks which I had the privilege of mentoring for 4 years. In 2007 Hychem Chemicals (Pty) Ltd recruited me as their National Group Accountant where I was at the head of the financial division. However my dream of having my own accounting practice kept knocking and being an entrepreneur myself, I ventured into this scary world being a business owner in 2008 and am still loving every minute. The practice has grown from humble beginnings to one with a staff compliment of five, each specializing in a specific aspect of the business.
My aim is to fuel my clients’ business success, firstly through the transference of knowledge and experience, and secondly taking care of the administrative aspects of their businesses which we have seen time and again being the cause of the downfall of exciting entrepreneurial ideas, as finance applications heavily rely on accurate financial data.
